22- 320 GOD'S BIG PICTURE

SCRIPTURE: This is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ  —everything in heaven and on earth. EPHESIANS 1:10

To understand God’s voice, we need to know something about His agenda. His voice informs us of what He’s going to do, of course, but sometimes we’re listening for an intensely personal word when He gives us a big-picture word or vice versa. Our expectations may color what we perceive and how we apply them. When we’re listening for God’s voice, we need to envision both the macro and the micro views.

When you're feeling stuck in your life, it can be hard to get a good look at your situation from above. The best way to see the big picture is to step back and ask yourself: What's God doing here? What's He planning? Why am I here? This step will help clarify your vision so you can see where your individual piece fits into His larger plan.

Once you've got that down, it's time to zoom in on your situation and figure out how you're supposed to live today—what God wants from you right now! When you are able to take these two steps—getting a bird's eye view of your situation, then zooming in on what God wants from you—you'll find yourself living in perfect alignment with Him!

When God created the earth and the heavens, He did so with a purpose in mind. And that purpose has nothing to do with us. We're not here to fulfill His dreams; they're His dreams, not ours. His big picture is much bigger than what we can imagine or comprehend.

He plans to bring everything in both heaven and earth together under the authority of Christ (Ephesians 1:10). He seeks to bridge the gap between His throne room and His creation—the new Jerusalem coming down out of heaven in Revelation is a dramatic picture of that—and establish His uniform reign in both realms. He wants heaven to come down into our lives, through our prayers, through His work in us, through our actions and words, and into our surroundings. Miracles that are commonplace in heaven are to become commonplace here on earth. Answers to prayer that are clear in heaven are to become clear here. The gap between the realms is to gradually disappear through the ministry of the Holy Spirit within His people. And His voice will very often be directed toward this end.

In the Bible, we see that God's plan for this world was to send Jesus Christ and then to bring Him back. But we also see that God's plan for His people is to walk in obedience and preparation so that when He returns, He will find us ready for His rule.

God's agenda for our lives is bigger than just getting through the next five years or even the next 50 years. It is about preparing our hearts and minds to receive Him and His rule now—and then to continue living with Him in the new heavens and new earth forever.

The work of God's Spirit within us is not just about our personal salvation; it also shows us how to prepare this world for His return. We are citizens of two realms: heaven and earth. Both are under Christ's authority, but they are not separate from one another.

So listen! Expect directions on how to prepare your world for life under the authority of Christ. Never limit your prayers to what is “feasible” on earth, but include requests that will display the glories of heaven in the here and now—at least until He comes back again!

Let's Pray...

Jesus, I long for everything to be under Your authority  —everything in heaven and earth and in every corner of my life. Give me clear instructions, revelations, and directions for praying for Your Kingdom to come on earth as it is in heaven. Take Care, God Bless, Make It A Great Day!!!
